The 基督教研究学院 and 人文学科 invites you to the inaugural 演讲厅: Forum for Christian Thinkers, 作家, 和学者.

演讲厅 is an annual forum in which ETBU hosts a Christian thinker, 作家, or scholar to present and discuss his or her work in the context of the Christian 人文学科. 格式可能会有所不同, but the consistent practice will be to allow the scholar to present his or her material and then to eng年龄 that material in conversation. The conversation could take place through a panel discussion with faculty from the 基督教研究学院 and 人文学科, formal or informal question-and-answer, or other formats as appropriate to the speaker’s discipline.

- Offer our community an opportunity to eng年龄 excellent faith-based thinking and scholarship.
- Expand the audience's understanding of how all Christians are called to incorporate their faith into whatever work they are doing.

塔尼亚Runyan扮演 is an NEA fellow and author of the poetry collections 即将发生什么, 第二个天空, 一千艘船, 简单的重量, 美味的空气, which was awarded Book of the Year by the Conference on Christianity and Literature. Her first book-length creative nonfiction title, Making Peace With Paradise: An Autobiography of a California Girl该片于2022年上映. Tania’s instructional guides, 如何读诗, 如何写诗, 如何写一首形式诗, are used in classrooms across the country, her poems have appeared in publications such as 诗歌, 图像, 哈佛神学公报, 基督教世纪, the Paraclete anthology Christian 诗歌 in America Since 1940. Tania lives with her family in Illinois.

The term 演讲厅 can refer to a number of educational institutions in different historical and geographical settings. We chose the name 演讲厅 in the context of Aristotle’s School, founded in Athens in 335 BC. It was a place where curious people met to talk about how to make sense of the world. Aristotle taught philosophy, political sciences, the arts, other fields. Through the 演讲厅 event at ETBU, we hope to eng年龄 our God-given curiosity about the way the world works to be more intentional Christian thinkers.

No, 演讲厅 is open to the entire East Texas Community.
